What is Ghosthand?

Ghosthand lets AI agents control a real iPhone from a Mac — the Mac becomes a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard for the iPhone, so an agent sees the screen, points, clicks, scrolls and types like a person with a desk setup.

It works with any iOS app, including App Store apps, system apps, Settings and the lock screen, with no jailbreak, no Xcode and no app on the phone — through a CLI, a remote MCP server and an HTTP API, with one agent per iPhone at a time via leases.

Key features

  • Any iOS app via AssistiveTouch — input goes through like a real mouse, with no app or test runner on the iPhone
  • Tap, double and triple tap, hold, swipe and hold-drag at screenshot coordinates or on OCR text
  • Scroll with the mouse wheel, including lists a drag cannot scroll
  • Fast keyboard input — type sends text as key presses, plus Home, Enter, Esc, arrows and volume keys
  • Screenshots over USB in PNG or JPEG, about 0.3s each
  • Screen recording with sound — H.264 + AAC, while actions and screenshots keep working
  • On-device OCR screen text with boxes in screenshot coordinates
  • Unlock a locked iPhone with its passcode and lock it again over the Bluetooth keyboard
  • Files, photos and apps over USB — pull photos, push files, list and uninstall apps, read battery, storage and the system log
  • Several iPhones at once, each controlled on its own
  • CLI, remote MCP server and skill for agents, plus an HTTP API described by OpenAPI
  • Leases — one agent per iPhone at a time, others wait or get a clear leased-by error

Pros

  • No jailbreak, no Xcode, no app on the phone — the agent drives the real device
  • Works with Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, Codex and other agents via CLI, MCP or HTTP
  • Free for one iPhone, with leases keeping agents from stepping on each other
  • Screen points shared across screenshots, OCR boxes and taps, sized for LLM vision

Cons

  • Requires a Mac and a real iPhone — Linux, Windows and the iOS Simulator are not supported
  • Needs macOS 14 or later, plus manual USB trust and Bluetooth pairing for each iPhone
  • The Bluetooth Classic private API is tested on macOS 26.3 only

How to choose the right Automation & Agents tool

Automation and agent tools promise to do work for you, so judge them on reliability before cleverness. Map the exact workflow you want to automate, then check the tool's integrations cover every app in that chain — one missing connector breaks the whole flow. Look for clear triggers, sensible limits, and logs you can read when something goes wrong, because something eventually will. For agents that act on your behalf, approval controls matter: you should be able to review messages, purchases or changes before they happen, especially at the start. Pricing usually scales with runs or tasks, so estimate your monthly volume honestly. Start with one low-risk workflow, measure the time it truly saves, and expand from there.
